CHAPTER 1 : INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION TO INDUSTRIAL TRAINING


Industrial training is one of the main component includes in the learning system for tertiary education. The students are required to at least pass the industrial training in order for them to graduate and receive their Diploma Certificate. Polytechnic has compel all students to undergo internship for 5 months in their selected company. 

In order to improve the competence of graduates, industrial training program was introduced to empower the competency needed. It gives the students the opportunity to learn from the working environment and gain experiences to enhances their skills. 

This program exposed the students in the development of technology, effectives communication, teamwork, policies, procedures and rules, professional perspectives and reports. 

Therefore, the industrial training is very important in disciplining the students so that they will obey  all the rules made by their institutions or company. It will also build proactive attitude and great self-esteem in order for them to be a great and successful person in future.





1.2 OBJECTIVES OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING


As a part of learning courses in tertiary education, all students are obliged to undergo industrial training for certain duration in their selected company. Internships are synonym to "working while learning" where the student are exposed to the real working environment in order for them to be able to gain more theoretical and soft skill knowledge in their study field. 


The first purpose of industrial training is to guide students to be prepared for any obstacles and hardships while working in real life. They will face various kinds of hardships during their internship, so they will learn how to adapt to the situation and solve the problems.

Secondly, industrial training allows the student to make use of their theoretical and soft skills knowledges which they obtained from respective polytechnic and apply them while working as an intern in the company. 

Third objective of industrial training is to produce a high quality trustworthy workers. In order to do so, the students will have to complete the tasks entrusted by their superior officers with full of responsibility. 

The students will interact with all the staffs or customers while working as an intern in their company. This will help to boost their self-esteem and their ability to feel confidence while confronting public. Besides, being in new environment will encouraged the students to ask when they are not sure about certain things. Hence, it will help to instill a good working culture betwen students and the staffs.




1.3 OBJECTIVES OF FINAL REPORT


A final report of industrial training includes all the information of the company's background and the experiences gained by the students during the training. A report is very important as it is the evidence for Polytechnic to proof that the student has completed their training for a certain period in the company. 

Besides, it exposed the students on how to prepare a proper evidential documents related to their work. Thus it will help the student to be familiar with documentation and they can apply this in when they are working. 

With the report, it could be a guidance for the students or their employers during future employment. Lastly, for new students that undergoes industrial training, older reports and documents would be very useful for them as a reference and guideline to make their own report. 



1.4 IMPORTANCE OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING


The industrial training is very important to students, the module itself was created to benefit the students in many aspects. One of the importance is to produce a competence graduates from Polytechnic that are proficient in their related work field. 

By undergoing the industrial training, the students are exposed to various challenging works assigned by their employers. Thus they will be more knowledgeable and be more skillful to complete their work. Knowledge in theoretical skills are useless without the knowledge of the application of that theory. During their training, they would be able to apply the theoretical knowledge learned at Polytechnic. 


Next, the importance of industrial training is to produce more diligent and fully disciplined employees. While undergoing the industrial training, the students were not just bound by the rules of Polytechnic but also the rules fixed by their respective company. Indirectly throught industrial training, the students will be able to innovate and solve problems encountered during working.

In addition, working as a team while in their respective company will somehow boost the students self-confidence and self-esteem. It also teach the students that working together will help them complete their work smoothly rather than they do it alone.
