CHAPTER 4 : TECHNICAL REPORT

4.1 Installing Ethernet Cable.

Process : 



A) Crimping the Ethernet cable 

1. Strip off the jacket to show the pairs of wires inside, then separate the pairs. 
2. Arrange the color of the wires exactly to the wiring sequence (568B).

3. Use a RJ-45 with the latch facing down and carefully insert the cable into the RJ-45.
4. The color sequence should be monitor so it would stay in place. 
5. The wires is push until it touches the end of the RJ-45.
6. By using a crimping tool, crimp the RJ-45. This will press the pins inside the plug into the
    wires and fasten the plug onto the cable.


B ) Replacement of Old Ethernet Cable

1. The distance of the place where the new cable is plan to be install were measured. 
2. If the distance are less than 100 meter, the UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable will be
    use in the installation. 
3. The old cable installed are removed then replaced by the new Ethernet cable.
4. The Ethernet cable are then connected to the Switch. 
5. Cable testing will be carried out to make sure the cable are functional. 


4.2 REQUESTING PERMIT FOR IMPORTED GOODS


A license is required in order to import products and merchandise into Malaysia. The license or permit must be obtain directly from the licensing or permit authority governing the product or merchandise.

4.2.1 The process of Import and Export License through Online

4.2.2 Requesting Import Permit 

The superior give a task to the internship student to apply a permit for imported electronic communication goods. The permit was applied through their respected official websites.

A) Obtain a file number through SIRIM Berhad
  1. Log in into SIRIM Berhad ( http://ecomm.sirim.my ) 
  2. Choose IT/networking
  3. Choose either IT/Networking Application List ( for existing application ) or New IT/Networking Form ( for new application ) .
  4. Click 'save' before proceed to fill in the required informations.
  5. Click on 'Add new product' and fill in the required informations.
  6. Complete the informations required in 'Document' ( Attach together the product's invoice/pro forma and brochure ) before proceed to 'Declaration'.
  7. After done fill in the applicant's Name and NRIC, click 'declare'.
  8. Go to Home screen and choose "IT/Networking Application List" to check on the status. The file number will be given after it is declared by SIRIM Berhad.

B) Applying Sirim Permit in ePermit. 


To continue this transaction, user must use only Internet Explorer to log on to e-permit website.

1. Log in into ePermit website ( http://ogapermit.dagangnet.com.my/epermit.jsp ) 
2. Click "Apply" to apply for new permit. 
3. Complete the required informations and click save/next. 
4. Tick on the Client's Declaration Box and choose "Submit to OGA". 
5. Complete the required informations. (The file number are the number obtained from e-comm sirim website).
6. Go to "Payment Instruction" to complete the payment.
7. The e-permit is available to be printed out after the payment is successfully done by company.
